Q.) Tell me about yourself how did you get your stage name, where are you from, where do you reside etc?

A.) Well, I’m Denae Joi . I am a singer/songwriter, model and actress. I love life and let live to the fullest. I am from Orlando, Florida and I reside in Atlanta, Georgia. The funny thing about my stage name is; I wanted to be so transparent that I decided to use my real name. First name being Denae’ and middle is Joi ! Anyone close to me has always called me by sticking those names together so I decided to roll with it.

Q.) Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?

A.) I would love to do a collaboration with Drake

Q.) Which artists inspired you the most growing up?

A.) Growing up I was always inspired by Anita Baker, Michael& Janet Jackson, Sade’, Silk, Usher, Beyoncé , Jagged Edge and Backstreet Boys. The list will go on and on for days.

Q.) What’s the story behind your new single ? Who was the writers/producers of the song? What do you enjoy about making music?

A.) I really like to incorporate feel good music into my projects when creating and that was the agenda. I wanted everyone that listened to this song to recall a time where they went out had a blast and made a connection ! The writers are Renzo Bandz and myself. The track was produced by Chriz Beatz. I enjoy invoking different emotions in people when making music and being able to say things I probably wouldn’t if it were just a regular conversation.

Q.) Do you have a video out yet ? If so, Who directed and shot your video for the song? If not, when can fans expect the visuals for that?

A.) I do not have a video out for “Across the Room”, just yet but I am shooting in March so make sure to look out for that ladies and gents. Debut date will be announced soon.

Q.) How would you define your genre of music? What can new supporters expect when listening to your music?

A.) I would describe my genre of music as a mix between pop and r&b. You can always expect to go through different emotions when listening to my music. It’s the way I create a oneness with my listeners and myself. We are all in the same boat , I’m just the one performing the unlocked secrets in our hearts.

Q.) What would you say is your biggest accomplishment to date?

A.) The biggest accomplishment I’ve had to date would be the honor of Opening the 40 oz Concert!

Q.) If you could cover any song what would it be?

A.) If I could do a cover it would be an acoustic version of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing or Ron Isley’s Atlantis.

Q.) What are the most challenging things you experience as an RNB/HIPHOP artist in today’s industry? What changes would you like to see in the music/ entertainment industry?

A.) The most challenging thing I deal with as a r&b/pop/hip hop artist is the lack of respect from my male counterparts. I would like to see the dominance of men in the industry and how they use it change. Just because I’m a female doesn’t mean I automatically want to sleep with you.

Q.) Do you think there’s a double standard in the industry, or in entertainment in general?

A.) There is definitely a double standard when it comes to the entertainment industry. When men act out it’s expected we blame it on the culture, when it’s a woman she is supposed to stay in her place and act like a lady.

Q.) Do you have any new projects on the way or any performances occurring, any events? What’s your over plan for the next few months.

A.) I am about to get in the studio for a new project. My next big performance will be in Orlando, Florida at the Fashion Gala Awards by Ms.B Productions !

Q.) What makes you unique from other artist? Also whats your 5 year goal with your career where do you want to be ?

A.) I believe what makes me unique is the fact I’m trying to do away with the cookie cutter image. I want to be an advocate for self love & respect. It’s all about the connection. In 5 years I plan to have become a household entity that is reaching people through music and philanthropy, with a big organic fan base!

Q.) What do you do in your free time? Any Hobbies?

A.) In my free time I write, spend time with family and sleep . Hobbies are anything adventurous . I love new experiences.

A.) My photos were shot be Celebrity Photographer NextLevelImages.
